Viviane 2

Congratulations to our Librarian, Viviane Kamologo,  on her recent marriage. We wish you and your husband a blessed future together.

In March students from all over the Bukavu area were invited to participate in a 2-day writing workshop.

On the first day a French teacher from a local college taught a class on how to write. On the second day the students each wrote an essay. The papers were corrected and prizes were given for the top 3 essays.

The essays have been sent to the U.S. and will be published in a Young Writers of Christ book along with writings by students from the U.S.

A writing skills class will now be offered once per month at the Center.

Music classes are now being held on Thursday afternoons at the Center. This is proving to be a very popular class.  Students are learning music theory and learning to play songs on the instruments. Bintu brought back harmonicas and recorders from her trip to the U.S.

The Princess Club was started to help teach young ladies the Word of God and teach them how to be godly young women.

They are also being taught knitting and other crafts so they will have some skills to help them to be independent. In the photos above the girls are being taught how to knit hats and scarves using a knitting hoop.

Thank you to those who donated school uniforms and sent them back to Bukavu with Bintu.

The uniforms have been given to students in need.

The Bukavu Center now has one new and two used laptop computers. Thank you to those who donated these computers! This will enable the volunteers at the Center to learn computer skills, will make documentation and record-keeping easier, and allow the tutors to produce and print worksheets and other documents as needed.

English classes have begun! We currently have 7 students enrolled in our new English classes at the Center.

Work continues on the school building in Kinshasa.  Education ASBL teams are meeting, training and preparing for school to start this fall.

We will keep you updated as we get more information.

When: July 10-24, 2013

Where: Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo

I am glad to be able to give you an update on the trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).   We are very excited to welcome you to the DRC in the third week of July this year!

Your travel plans should have you land at the N’djili airport in Kinshasa.   We are pleased to host you for the two (or more) weeks that you will be working with us.   During your stay, you won’t need to pay for accommodations or food.   We hope you will find what we have to share to be acceptable.

Pastor Safari Ntalagane of a local Assemblies of GOD church knows about your coming and would like to know if you are interested in sharing with his church, apart from the Education ASBL work.  Please let me know if you are willing, so we can organize meetings with different church groups.

I am also meeting this week with Mr. Joseph Amisi to discuss the building progress.  He is the main partner in the School project and the owner of the school building.   The painting may not be entirely completed before you arrive.   Let me know if you would also want to help paint.

We are also organizing some visit tours into Kinshasa and the surrounding area.  We can visit the bonobos site and other exciting tourist places.

Thank you again for your commitment.   Please confirm that you are still planning to come this summer and I will provide more details.

Please contact us if you would like to:  participate in this mission trip,  donate items for the school in Kinshasa and/or help with the extra luggage costs to send those items to the DR Congo.

Please keep Future Hope Africa (Education ASBL)  in your prayers.

Pray that God will continue to lead and guide us to do His will and that He will continue to open doors for us in the DR Congo.

Please pray especially for the staff  in Kinshasa as they prepare to open the school. Pray for the workers and students.  Pray that God will provide all that is needed to run the school and have a positive, godly impact on these children and their families.

Pray for the Mission trip that God will provided the people and resources that are needed.
